Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a regular size deck of cards?
No! These are closer to Tarot size cards, but a little wider. The "jumbo" size helps deliver more information and is more fun to work with during a vibrant practice session. They're still easy to take with you: throw some in your case or your bag for fun practice activities on the go!
Is this just for beginners?
Not at all! Practice Pilot was designed by a concert musician and music professor to work for all levels—from beginners who need structure to advanced players looking to stay sharp, creative, and consistent. It's even great for teachers to use with their students.
How long does a practice session take with the cards?
You can play a full session in 30–60 minutes, or just pull a couple cards for a quick 10-minute boost. It’s totally flexible to your time and goals.
What if I already have a teacher or use online lessons/courses?
Perfect. Practice Pilot works alongside any lesson plan, method, or course. It’s not a replacement for learning—it’s the missing piece that helps you practice better, stay motivated, and make real progress between lessons.
I’m self-taught. Will this help me?
Absolutely. In fact, that’s who this was built for. Practice Pilot is like having a personal trainer for your practice sessions—so you know what to do, how to do it, and how to get better faster.
Is this based on a real system or just random ideas?
Every card is backed by real techniques used by professional musicians and music educators. The creator has a Doctorate in Music and has helped hundreds of students improve through the same ideas found in Practice Pilot.
Have other musicians tried this?
Yes! We tested Practice Pilot with real students, teachers, and players of all levels—and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many said it’s the most fun and consistent they’ve ever been with their practice.
Is this just for classical guitarists?
Not at all! While it was created by a classical guitarist, Practice Pilot works for any style—acoustic, electric, rock, pop, fingerstyle, flamenco, and more. The cards help you learn, improve, and perfect music, no matter your genre. The only exception is for creation/improvisation-based learning. In that case, you might have more fun with "Creative Driver"!
What age is appropriate for this deck?
Practice Pilot works as a self-study tool from age 13 up, but it works for any age with the help of a teacher or parent! Are you a parent without musical experience? No worries, the instructions are crystal clear and made for anyone to understand.
Does Practice Pilot work for other instruments or just guitar?
Shhhh... a little secret is that Practice Pilot is actually instrument-agnostic! The activities and strategies in the deck work for learning any instrument that is working to build a collection of playable music (repertoire). This first edition is branded for guitar, but don't let that stop you from getting a copy now! We hope to include future editions that are specific to more instruments, but that will be much further down the road.
Does this teach me how to play guitar?
Practice Pilot doesn’t replace lessons or learning content. It teaches you how to practice effectively so the lessons, courses, and videos you already use actually turn into real progress. In a world full of instruction, this is the bridge that turns knowledge into skill.
